Community Outreach

The Campus is deeply rooted within the communities it serves, with all of our departments involved in collaborative projects with our key stakeholders such as: Small Business Development Centre (SBDC) promotes lifelong business learning and helps business owners and managers to gain essential knowledge in improving business processes and creating high value products and services.

The SBDC is spearheading training on improving record keeping for entrepreneurs, a project which is funded by the Ministry of Finance and monitored by the NCCI. This project provides bookkeeping training to the out of school youth in the fourteen regions of Namibia. It is anticipated that the trained youth will provide serve businesses in their respective regions. This would create employment for the youth while at the same time the businesses will keep proper records for managing their businesses and for tax purposes.

The Nursing lecturers and students are involved in the rehabilitation project of patients with chronic conditions/diseases such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, HIV/AIDS, etc. They visit the patients at home to assess how the patient and family members are coping with their conditions after discharge and provide support and guidance through health education. Some lecturers and students provide home based care visiting the terminally ill and bed-ridden patients to monitor their wellbeing and to give them advice.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Services, the first year students and lecturers are involved in the School Health Project. They visit primary and combined schools, where they do physical examinations on the learners to identify any health conditions that can affect their learning. Such learners are then referred to the hospitals for further interventions.

The campus also organizes a number of information days, including career fairs, science fairs and quizzes, as well as health and wellness days.
