Two professors joined the Department
Prof Fisseha Itanna(left) holds a PhD in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition (U. Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany) and has published widely. His recent research projects include; low-input sustainable agriculture, heavy metal pollution to aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, phytoremediation of degraded lands with grasses and reclamation of degraded lands. He has served in Addis Ababa University for many years attaining the rank of full professor and Associate Dean, Graduate Programme College of Natural and Computational Sciences.
Prof Levi Akundabweni(right) has PhD and MSc qualifications in the agronomy of Leafy (Production) Systems with a specialization in ecological pasture/forage management and breeding) from SDSU-Brookings, SD, USA. Previously worked as leafy vegetable cum fodder cowpea breeder at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan-Nigeria; at the then International Livestock Centre for Africa-ILCA- (now ILRI) as a PhD trainee researching on the potential of the African clover genus as fodder crop for zero grazing systems for the African Highlands and the University of Nairobi as Associate Dean and Chairman, Department of Crop Science.
