COLLECTIONS
Books and other library
material are located in different collections. Items within these collections
are organised and shelved according to the Dewey Decimal Classification
System (DDC).
Open Shelf
This is the main collection of books, on the First and Second Floor
available for borrowing.
Law Reference
This collection is located on the second floor and material may only
be used within the allocated room.
General Reference
This includes atlases, encyclopaedias, dictionaries and directories.
Items from this collection must be used within the library and preferably
within the reference area.
Periodicals
Located on the First Floor. Only bound volumes may be borrowed.
Short Loan
Items, for which usage is expected to be high, are placed on reserve
in the Short Loan Section on the recommendation of the lecturers. Two
items may be borrowed simultaneously for a period of two hours only.
Items may be taken out overnight from 20:00 but must be returned by
08:00 the next day.
Special Collections
Located on the Lower Ground Floor and contains items such as Namibiana,
government publications, dissertations, pamphlets, newspapers and clippings.
Material is for use in the Special Collection area only.

Audio-visual collection
Enquiries for audio-visual material can be made at Short Loan. This
material has restricted loan periods. The Library has viewing and listening
facilities for the Audio-Visual Collection on the Second Floor.
Sheet music
Sheet music is available for loan. Please enquire with the the Short
Loan Section.
Popular magazines
These may be borrowed from the Short Loan Section under short loan conditions
Archival Collection
Located on the Lower Ground Floor.
