Internet Facilities

Internet facilities are provided in the ILRC Building with access to Web browsing and electronic mail.

Internet Information Services

Subject Librarians are doing their best to surf the Internet, identify, evaluate and make available various Internet resources on Subject specific pages. Research and teaching staff may also request their respective Subject Librarians for assistance in locating relevant Internet sources for their research or teaching projects / programmes.

Internet use policy

This policy applies to all users of the ILRC's Internet and e-mail facilities. All individuals who enjoy the use of these facilities should do so in a responsible manner. These services should only be used for educational purposes.

This policy is intended to guide users in the appropriate use of these facilities, namely in accessing information on the Internet and using e-mail.

Rules governing use:

  • Who may use these facilities?

Due to the limited number of stations, use of the Internet facilities will be restricted to UNAM lecturers, researchers and registered UNAM students.

Regulations

  • All computers must be handled carefully.
  • The playing of computer games or pornographic viewing is strictly forbitten.

Facilities offered

At present the library offers access to World Wide Web sites on the Internet and e-mail facilities. Please be aware that all information exchanged through e-mail is open to scrutiny by any user.
Pinting facilities are offered on the Ground Floor of the ILRC.

Inappropriate use of facilities

Users may NOT:

  • make any attempt to damage computer equipment or software.
  • make any attempt to change software configurations.
  • violate copyright laws or software licensing agreements.
  • install or download any software.
  • engage in any activity which is deliberately and maliciously offensive, libellous or slanderous.
  • display or distribute material which is obscene or harassing.
  • iolations may result in the loss of access to both Internet and other library facilities.
  • Unlawful activity will be dealt with, in the appropriate manner and in conjunction with the appropriate disciplinary authorities.
